Right now, InFocus is selling the venerable X2 as a refurbished projector for $273, plus shipping (link below). No, that is not a typo on the price. Heck, bulb replacements for this PJ are $250!  The PJ comes with a 90 day warranty, 6 month bulb warranty. Several board members have used this projector and give it high marks. It is probably not high enough quality for inhome theater, but for outside it should work great! Good luck,

Turnerx5

PJ info here: http://www.projectorcentral.com/InFocus-X2.htm

If for some reason the link doesn't work, just go to the Infocus online store, and click on the business section, scroll down and it's there!

That's a good price on a decent PJ.  Unfortunately, the InFocus web site already lists this item as temporarily backordered.   Sad

That's a great deal on a back-up projector. I have a refurb X1 and have been very happy with performance outdoors. For some reason it adds tax to my total ($318 with S/H), must be shipping from Georgia.

I jumped on this deal on 9/24/2008.
A few hours later, I received the "Backorder Notification."   Sad

But, a few days later (9/29), I was informed that it shipped, and I received it on Fri (10/3).

I haven't connected it yet, but I was excited to see that it came with a power cord, AND a M1 -> VGA/USB cable (part # 210-0185-52) that is 6 feet in length.  I was worried that it was NOT going to come with that cable (due to verbiage on the infocus item page), but am quite pleased that it came with it so I didn't have to buy one on eBay.

Here is my big question -- since this is a refurb it only comes with a 90day warranty (hence the low price).  Has anyone else who has purchased this refurbished unit, ALSO purchased the "1 Year Extended Product Warranty (Parts & Labor)" http://tinyurl.com/3vhf2y for $149?

Should I just make sure I show a lot of movies, do a lot of presentations at work during next 90 days to make sure its working fine?

Any other suggestions to test it out?   Or should I just relax, and enjoy it. Smiley

If it only cost you 273.00 , why bother with a 149.00 warranty?  If you bought a car for 27,300 would you buy a 1 year warranty for 14,900.......... same percentage. Not worth it.

Thanks for posting the deal. I purchased one Tuesday afternoon. But Infocus later e-mailed me stating the projector is back ordered. They told me they have no idea when they will have some in stock it could take a couple days or up to a few weeks Angry. Hopefully they will have some in stock in a couple days. Tongue

Here's a question about refurbished products.  If they are getting so many units returned for refurbishing, does that make a statement about the QC of their manufacturing process?  If so, might the refurbished units actually be better than new?  Just wondering.

Thoughts on refurb.  Jump on it.

I took a much bigger "chance" for a much bigger reward about six months ago.  Saw that Benq was selling a PE7700 factory refurb for $800 (included all taxes and shipping).  The list on that HD machine was $2495 at the time, and I suppose I could have gotten a new one somewhat cheaper than that, but nowhere near $800.   It was my second projector.  I still have and use my older Benq 6200.

As to the 'why' so many refurbs and whether it says something about the original build quality?   I wondered too, but in the specific case of the X2, I seem to remember it had an excellent reputation among owners at the time.  If I had to guess why the refurbs exist in the first place???  Probably bulb damage early on in ownership of the original machine or failure of the color wheel (maybe from being rattled during shipment?)

I don't see any reason why the X2 wouldn't make you happy in or out of doors.  As I
recall it was at least as good as my older Benq6200 (XVGA) and although there is no doubt my PE7700 throws a better (and 16:9) picture,  I was always pleased with my 6200 and still am.   You can't lose at this price because you are only paying what a bulb replacement would cost and you do have the factory selling them, not some yokel off Ebay.

Enjoy.

Deal is dead for now. Do not even bother to order now they are telling me the ETA wait time is a month or more. Infocus is suggesting to cancel my order.  Angry
