Hi everybody. A few weekends ago, I was over at a friend's house playing with a new (used) projector I recently picked up on eBay. We were sick of not having enough room inside, so we decided to set everything up outside. While looking for ideas on a screen, I stumbled on this here site and have been thoroughly enjoying it.
When we first started, we were using two 4'x8' sheets of insulation with a white covering as a screen. We just leaned the two up against the side of a shed and it worked quite well -- except it was too small (only 8' wide? Psht) and it had a gigantic seam in the middle. So, we decided to try a tarp. I've attached a picture of that setup. The tarp produced a terrible picture, so I bought some blackout cloth, sewed it together, and came up with a great screen. I don't have any pictures of the setup, but I have a picture of the image it made, and we've been very happy.
So far, I've just been using the audio on the projector (a Proxima 9200). All we have to do is run an extension cord out and plug everything in and it's ready to go. In my search for a screen, I was able to obtain a full roll of blackout cloth that is the full 9' long, so now I can make an even bigger screen . . . I'll be looking to sell all the extra material, so I posted in the classified section if you're interested.
Let me know what you think!

Welcome aboard CarlofET!
We’ve only tried gaming outdoors one time. Would like to do it again. Looks like you could do a nice widescreen on the side of that building with a simple grommeted screen.
Thanks for joining in the forums and have fun!

CarloET,
Great job. And done in the true spirit of the backtard theatre! Post the pics when you can with the new screen. How much does it weigh?

We have an Xbox permanently installed in the outdoor cabinet alomg with all the other equipment. Unfortunately, I only have time for a round of TW 2006 or a game of Madden most of the time, but the kids think it's really cool. Especially with a lot of the newer games being in HD. Xbox on a 320" screen with HD and Surround just can't be beat.
