Last Saturday, I attended a performance at the Hollywood Bowl.

Throughout the performance, there were trivia questions projected on the screen, each accompanied by three possible correct answers. Audience members were each given three colored glow sticks and were asked to indicate their answers by holding up one of the colored sticks. Of course, the effect in one's backyard isn't the same as seeing 17,000 glow sticks at the Hollywood Bowl, but it seems to me that it would still be lots of fun for birthday party guests and their siblings or soccer team movie night.

Here's one.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/GlAYPxGXANs" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/GlAYPxGXANs</a>

Children are given three glow sticks (red, blue and green) before the start of the video.
They stand in one place and, after deciding which glow stick to use, they hold it in the air and keep time with the stick.

Glow sticks are selling on the Oriental Trading Company  for $10.50  a dozen

Go to their online site and type "glow lightsticks" into their Search Item box.

The glow sticks are $1.00 at Target or Dollar Tree for twelve and includes connectors to make bracelets, necklaces, or any other items they can think of. The LED Balloons come from Walmart. Cost about 3.95 for 5. The blow up to 9 inches. Come in different colors, and some have designs like happy faces on them. The cool part is they add a cool light to theater area without being too bright. Kids love them.

Best place I've found for glowsticks is www.happyglow.com

I usually pick up the premium 8" bracelets - $.07 apiece is pretty hard to beat.
