Hey folks, looking for your opinion. Our businesses has expanded into pro and consumer a/v equipment sales, installations, and integration. With that said I want to create a parent company and have narrowed names down to: Pulse A/V or Pro Sight & Sound.  How about a vote on which you like best.

Thanks

Pro Sight & Sound.  Just having "pro" in there gives people the idea you might know what you are doing. Grin

We have had a client who did an annual event for five straight years.  He is hurting in this economy and finds his guests already asking him what date to reserve.  So he came to us and asked if we would do a "freebie".  What do you others suggest we do?  Thanks for your opinions.

Well dependent on how you feel , I think could be a good gesture on your part , and ask that when times are better for this guy to remember you stuck with him in good times and in bad.

Or offer to do it for free if he has something you need from his business  (barter system)

Is this a backyard event or open to the public and is he making a money. I would not give it away. What type of equipment would you be using (screen size etc). Y ou have no way of knowing if he will use you next year if things get better. If you do it free and then get a paid request for that date you have really lost money.

I agree with movieman. dont give it away. From what ive learned about business, most people will always haggle your prices down or try to get freebies even if they have the money to pay for the product/service. I also agree with satch that if this is a good customer, barter with him if he doesnt have money, maybe look for sponsors. Your in the business to make money, not give away free shows.

1: NO FEEEBIES! It's really hard to get someone to pay for something later on when you've already given it to them once for free. Just my own worthless opinion.

2: I like the "Pro Sound" name, but it's really similar to the name of a company I used to buy my DJ equipment from back in the day: Pro Sound Stage & Lighting - http://www.pssl.com

I like the idea of bartering since he is in a bind and doesn't have the cash. Remember, the barter doesn't have to be for something you need personally. It could be something someone in your family needs like piano lessons for your kid, braces for the dog, painting UD66's house, etc.  Grin
