Haven't done much BYT'ing last couple of years but want to start back this year. Things have changed with players so much and I really want to simplify what I have to carry outside. Just wondering if anyone is using a tablet or even their phone for video output. I just received a micro-hdmi to HDMI cable for my Surface RT and an HDMI adapter for my Galaxy S3. The Surface looks very good on my TV but the Galaxy S3 was noticeably lacking in picture quality.

I've used my iPod a couple of times to show material. People were kind of in awe that the quality was pretty good. Looking to incorporate XBMC and Cinema Experience from my 12" laptop this year.

I have watched YouTube videos and Netflix from my iPhone on my indoor screen using the same PJ I use outdoors.  Picture quality was good from both.  My indoor screen is 7.55' x 4.25'  (91" x 51"). Grin

Haven't tested it outside.  When I have played it in the house, I run power to the iPhone and use the wi-fi.

I recently upgraded from DVD to iPhone (via Netflix or Prime) for outdoor movies, but my friends think its funny to send inappropriate text messages during the movie, which end up on the screen (not so great during kids movies)...so I exclusively use my iPad and have disabled notifications Smiley

Picture quality is great (assuming you DL the HD version)...Sound is seems solid too (nobody ever complained).

I use my Galaxy SIII mini with chromecast to send HULU and youtube outside. The picture and sound are very good especially on HULU.
