I've had a few folks ask via email about the Peace sign icon in the location bar.  So here's the deal.

1) I'm an aging hippie.
2) Peace still sounds like a good idea to me -- let's not forget it as an option.
3) I use the white on black version because I'm also a Neil Young fan and that's the way his guitar strap is.
4) I made the icon file, I can give it away.
5) You ARE more than welcome to grab it and put it on your own website.
6) If you don't see the icon, you're probably using Explorer and may have more important problems to think about.
7) It would be fun to know where it ends up so if you use the file, please post your website URL in this thread.

Right click on the following link and click "save as".

Save the file somewhere on your computer where you'll know how to find it.
Place the favicon.ico file in the root directory of your website via ftp or whatever you use.

You may also want/need to add a modified version of the following to the <head> area of your pages.

If you are on your own domain, add something like this:

If you are in a user directory, without your own domain, add something like this instead:

That should do it.

Enjoy!!  If you have problems, drop me a note.

I understand the motivation (rock on) but it would be more practical to use an icon that corresponds to the forums. So you can more easily pict the forum site out of a list of bookmarks.

If you are open to it, I'd like to suggest you use a projector icon, like the old stylized General Cinema logo.

I like the peace Icon.  I also like the ideal of a projector Icon.  So I'm at an impass.

I think using that as an icon is just fine.

Oddly, I don't see it, though I'm getting icons on several other windows, and I don't see the icon tags in the header of any of the pages.

Perhaps your editor is stripping it out? (MSIE doesn't recognize the tag, and I always suspect MS of deleting stuff when they don't support it.)
