So, I kind of have a green light from the wife to "upgrade" the sound and have roughly $500 I can spend.  I was looking into systems such as (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/kustom-pa-kpc10-10-speaker-with-phonic-powerpod-820-pa-package) and had questions.   I know enough to be dangerous but don't want to waste money buying something that would only be a half measure.  Currently I use my use either my laptop or dvd player where video goes to my PJ and audio goes from my headphone jack or R/W RCA into my ION IPA-23 (http://www.ionaudio.com/products/details/explorer-bluetooth) aux input.

What I was hoping to do is have a 3 speaker system by going from the source into the mixer of a system above having the speakers going from it out to the left right of my deck and then the ION speaker in the middle. Is it possible and what kind of sound quality (power) would that give?  Keeping in mind I am trying to overcome Route 1 road noise.

I attached a layout to show the space I am working with.

I went ahead and bought the package and added to more of the same speakers.  From reading the manual prior to buying and a few posts that Sparge commented on I think I can make this work and have better sound than I currently do. It should be here this week and I think I can even add a powered sub later if I think it's needed.  We'll see.
