I have a set of Definitive Technology AW 6500 speakers on my back patio connected to a Amp in my basement.  They sound great, and the Sonos connected to it is extremely easy to control.  I could use these for my theater, however I think I would prefer some other outdoor speakers that I could leave outside through the season.

I have been looking at some of these outdoor Rock Speakers, and wondered if anyone has used them.  I'm looking to run a conduit to the projector location for speaker wires to aid in setup.  If I could leave the speakers out it would be great.  I was looking at getting another set of Def Tech 6500s, but I really don't want to spend that much.  Any suggestions out there?

How much for the Def Tech AW6500?  Did you look on eBay?  There is a seller named bajawaverunner  They sell refurb and seconds Def Tech items. The AW6500s are $140 each.

I've been waffling between the AW6500s, and just building my own from marine grade auto speakers. Of course the problem with that is getting a housing that is weatherproof. Even with the best paint sealers, and other finishes, its still just wood.  :-(

I'm starting to look at the Def Techs again.  After shopping around for Rock Speakers, there doesn't seem to be much of a savings.  Since I know that I'm happy with the sound, I may start searching for some more AW 6500s.  I thought there may be a chance that a good set of Rock Speakers would give me just a bit more bass outdoors.

I'm going to check out the ebay listing you talked about now.  $140 is a decent price, but they are $169 new on Amazon.  I may even look at the AW5500 too.
