Our Backyard Theater

We finally had a chance to take pictures of our theater. "The Moonlight Lounge Backyard Theater" .We have a Cinego "all in one" (projector, dvd player and speakers). We made a 9 foot screen with blackout cloth, 1x2's and a staple gun. We hook it to our arbor for movies and then store everything under our staircase when not being used. We're looking for a HTIB right now to have surround sound. We kind of have something for everyone in the backyard. We even made snow cones the other night which were a big hit!

I especially like your "gatekeeper" in the last photo. Excelent job on the screen. I LOVE your patio with the columns. Very nice.

Very nice.. I have been contemplating something similar for my Phase 2.. sort of. I have a pergola roof on my raised back porch. The front face is the perfect size and elevation for a screen to be viewed from the backyard. Unfortunately the three front facing supports are covered in thick mounds of wisteria that I think will prevent me from a clean attachment. I am going to try to enlist the help of others to come up with a creative solution to mount a screen with clearance for the wisteria vines. Beyond that, I am pretty sure I could handle a DIY project that involves a frame and a staple gun.. beyond that I'll be over my head.
Love the thought of watching a movie from the hot tub.. and love your outdoor lights. I've been looking for big bulb light strings the past few weeks.. ever since I saw a BBQ episode of Wonder Years. Yours seem to have both a retro and modern vibe to them from what I can see in the photo.
So did you have a showing this holiday weekend?

The lights were from Target believe it or not. We searched for weeks, online and at different stores before we finally found the ones that we liked. Yes, we had a Holiday showing, a few friends came over and we watched "Happily Never After" (the 4 year old loved it). Next weekend is "our time", we have friends coming over Saturday night and will watch some action flicks after the kids go to bed. As for the screen mounting, do you have any clearance behind the front supports? We used chains and "S" hooks attached to the back side of the face of the arbor, then put some small nails on the back also. The screen hangs from the "S" hooks and when we aren't using it the chains hook onto the small nails so you don't even know it's there.
