G'day from downunder!

I'm new here.

Last summer, I launched my backyard cinema using a bedsheet pegged to a trampoline turned on it's sides. Everyone loved it, but the sheet fluttering in the breeze really annoyed me.

So my Dad and I have just finished putting together what I've called the "Superwide".

We bought a 2.75m x 1.20m wooden board, painted it white and attached it to an old table tennis table and turned it on it's side... I'm pleasantly suprised with the results! Our backyard's quite small, so the size does the job perfectly.

Looking forward to having some friends around for the re-launch when the weather warms up a bit.

I'm also shopping around for some better sound... last summer, we used some old computer speakers which were quite loud, but not quite loud enough for my liking. So I've bought some old speakers and am now looking for an old amplifier... I find the older setups have much more power than the new stereos with AUX input. Anyways.. still having trouble finding the amplifier... they seem to be quite sought after!

Anyways, here's some pics of the new screen. I've also made a website which features the movies I want to play over the summer. It's at http://www.jordanscinema.com ...not much there at the moment, but will put some more pictures up after my big premiere!

Cheers,

Jordan.

That screen looks great, Jordan!

Good luck finding a second-hand amp. You would have no trouble here, are there are thousands of stereo amps that were suddenly "obsolete" when the owners upgraded to surround sound. I would expect it to be the same in AUS, too.

Jordan -

WELCOME! That looks really sweet. My only comment would be to try to raise up the screen somewhat, but if it works for you, that's what's REALLY important.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Looks good Jordan

yes get the screen higher, maybe on the other side of the pool,
kicking back in the pool and checking out a flix, might be as good as it gets.

I find old stereos and speakers all over here in the states (yard sales, ebay)

have fun this summer.
good luck

Hi all!

Thanks for your suggestions and feedback.

My Dad's a builder and has some tressles (I think that's what they're called) which I could put the screen on to make it a bit higher.
