All that came to the party and stayed for the movies had a great time. The few young children that came didn't know what the big "white sheet" was for. I told them it was a surprise. The popcorn and cotton candy machines were a big hit. We only let the adults spin the floss on the sticks and one of the children told me that he did this all the time as they had there own. He said this as his mother was standing behind him and in her best motherly way reminded him they don't have one and that this is the first time he has seen onen.

As the afternoon wore on, the time was right for setting up the equipment . I set the projector on the table and my kids were setting up the 5.1 sound then the younger children finally figured out what the "sheet" was for. The pre show was a slideshow in Powerpoint of Movie and Family trivial questions. This was around sunset and the projection was rather good with the ambiant light. As it got darker, we started the movie off with a Bugs Bunny cartoon and then the main event of Happy Feet. It sounded great on the 5.1 I kept the sound down to a reasonable level as earlier in the day a neighbor started his mobile sound system in the Apartment complex and insisted we all listen to his "choice" of music. The Police and I didn't agree that we should listen to it therefore, we were respectfull of our sound.  We even told our neighbors directly by us and they had no problem with it.

Now its time to clean up and take the screen down for a while. Wind is supposed to blow here hard on Thursday.

Photos attached. The one photo named watching was taken with just the light from the movie. Its blurry because I was holding camera and it shook.

Ronaz,

Nicely done.  Cotton candy and popcorn - nice touches.

Did you buy the cotton candy maker?   Was thinking of getting one for my backyard adventures - but wondered if renting one wouldn't make more sense. (I do own a popcorn maker)...

Congratulations! It's fun, isn't it?  I have a feeling you'll be having many more movie nights in the near future--heck, you'll probably set it up just for your family to watch, too. It's very addicting!
