Kelemvor, et al;
While they where a bit late (it was a cool spring with little rain, the soil needs to be soft and the right temp.) tey have arrived!  We hosted my mothers 60th surprise party and it was difficult to yell "SURPRISE" over them. One male can emit a sound louder than that of a kitchen blender. I would say their are thousands bettween the backyard and forest that borders us.

With windows closed and music or whatever on, it is still a constant penitrating sound here in Naperville, IL.
Cheers,

hey guys I realize this is an old thread but I have been on sabatical for awhile.
Are you sure the movie has a DTS track?  if the movie is DD and you have optimized with a native DTS signal you may be running into trouble there...

No, but we have had musings of figuring out how we might turn it into a sim and actualy hit against a screen... If you locate a periphal do let us know!

constantly!

We do 'Friday Night Fights'  Fight Night Round 3 on the XBOX looks wicked over the 'S' video and 5.1 audio,  we also tend to play a lot of Tiger Woods and PGR2 the only one that posed a bit of a problem was Halo x4 splitscreen. (though that could have been the beer)

picked up a Fischer 100W reciever at a garage sale for $12 I use a 'Y' cable out of my primary recivers LFE channel into the Fischer then the transducers are wired to the left right. Couple of words of caution, if you use a reciver dont run it to the 'Phono In' as it seems to be too sensitive to the LFE input; second, indeed get yourself a test disc 'cause if you turn 'em too loud it looses the effect.  The ideal situation seems to be when no one knows you actually have the transducers and it just suplements the sub.  All that is said however in the context of an indoor theater so I will refer to the others who have tried the setup outdoors.

I would imagine that they would be quite weather resitant so that is a plus.

Chris-

If you aren't looking to shell out some pretty tall coin for the ButtKickers you may wanna check these out:

I use 'em in my Private Home Theater... never tested 'em under the stars.  I can certainly endorse parts express as they have always been a great company to work with.

Tom- I absolutley subscribe to the "it aint about P&S quality."  though my current solution in a drop cloth has a seam my audience doesn't seem to notice or mind I find myself saying "if only I could get rid of the seam" I am sure if I go witht the Dazien I'll say, "if only i went bigger!"

thanks again,

Tom-

Great response thanks.  It begs the big question... What of the seam? is it noticable running down the center I assume?

Tom-

Can you provide some more detail on the BO cloth?  I have built the fram and now need to select the screen.  I had a theater in my previous house and loved the black out cloth.  what dimensions of fabric did you find, is the seam noticable? how did you stretch/secure the cloth.

kelemvor - will the BO cloth stretch that far in that you will be able to use a single piece with no seams?

Well that about does it.  We all aquired our fasincation and eventual hobby sitting outside with mosqiouto bites and sun burn, tossing the football and chasing the other kids through the parked cars in the lot.  My first movie was 100 & 1 Dalmations at the HiLite Drive-In in Aurora, Il. On Tuesday the City council in Aurora voted to sell the land to a land developer intent on demolishing the theater and building 250 track homes to the adjoining development of 1400 of the same homes. Don't take this note as some protest against progress I am sure the city needs the assesment money.

None the less it shall be missed.

Not that this is the right solution for everyone, but I think my intention is to uttilze my soft modded XBOX.  I did simmilar to Busy and compiled my intros, coke slides, vintage adds etc.  they are stored local on the XBOX harddrive then i can either rip the main title (of which I own of course) to the HardDrive or run it direct from the tray.  The XBOX MediaCenter offers the ability to autorun a DVD so at show time I just close the tray and viola!  at around $125 the xbox has proven a wicked media center.

Randy;

Love the forum and the Notify feature. I wonder if this is trival on the part of forum setup or is infact not an option here.

I travel quite a bit and am also cursed with carrying a BlackBerry.  One of the nice features on AVS is that the notification includes the quote of the post much like the private message notification does here.  Is it possible to enable that (I assume it would be limited to a number of characters) feature for subscribed posts here?
