2  Backyard Theater discussions / Media servers, streamers and networking / School me on downloading a dead concert on: July 27, 2016, 09:29:51 am
Haven't been here for awhile, life keeps getting in the way.

Hopefully doing a dead concert this Friday and was told livedead.co is the place to go. I'm not sure if I should stream off their site or download show I want. Are there any sound issues? Hoping the site isn't skittish. Any thing I should be aware of?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks Marj,

Even though it's adding an additional piece its small.
Will give it a shot.

Dumb question...... Would this converter allow me to use a basic computer speaker system?

Hey, been gone for many moons and really haven't had any showings other than an occasional sporting event

I bought apple tv and had trouble with wifi (in house) so ran wiring from modem directly to apple box. Problem solved. Thought it would be a clean setup to have outside, Bought a 100ft HDMI cable and set up screen in backyard, picture works great with my epson. I just like to do music, youtube stuff. So question, best easiest way for audio?

Dennis, you made my day!

The link you posted mentioned my uncles bar on North Ave, Sonny's, where I did cash many of checks most of which cleared. Sonny always said I know where you live so don't try it.

Tradesmen, writers, politicians, hookers, plumbers,
Tv execs, bums and doctors were your basic pot pourri

And Uncle Sonny held court the nights he was there.

He had several places in the area, the saddle club on north clark before Sandburg Village took over and the moved it to North Avenue right near Ale house where they had a few bands on occasion and Belushi and the boys would stumble in

The place had an eclectic crowd, a much grittier gathering than  a cheers

My kind of place , pure Chicago.

If we ever collide I have enough stories to deplete any bar down to its last Guinness.

My Irish immigrant grand parents had a brownstone on 1400 block of Dearborn

Oh, the stories.

Dennis,

First off I'm jealous you're moving downtown. A little dream of mine to enjoy a great city. You'll have a blast!

Secondly, I know you mentioned package deal. Should you decide to break things up, I'd be interested in a few things.

Good luck!!!!

If I can be nosy, what area of the city?

Forgot to mention, I'm up on North Shore area and can pop over if you still stuff

Watching some morning show with my wife who has about as much interest in BYT as a high schooler for Michelle O's 'healthy' lunches. Steven Carell was on and mentioned to hosts how much he loves Halloween and last year set up screen in his  backyard and showed Young Frankenstein. Wife's jaw dropped as I've been showing YF for last 5 years on big screen for halloween.

Now suddenly, a new found respect.

Drifting somewhat on this thread and somewhere I asked this previously,

showing pics cd on a mac pro with  epson 705HD  resolution on  photos were stunning, yet when projected disappointing. Someone I believe sparge said to check mac  output?

For me the last couple of years have been full of family illness. Also,  night swimming, & lack of funds does not help. Most of my friends have lost interest & with my family (kids) they don't want to help.

This year we joined a yacht club & that is a lot of fun with people that care about boating. There is almost a party every weekend.  I may try to do a movie night there next year.

I do love it but the work has become old for me......As I write this I am getting excited again for picking it up next year I only hope it does not go away over the winter LOL

I wish I had twenty + people coming over each week like some of you but people here are just so busy in the north east

Randy some of this may be due to the lack of activity on here. At one time it felt like a club but sometimes it feels like a ghost town here....Please don't take this wrong as it is not your fault but when I came here I fed off of the others. Everyone was excited......& it was a fun time talking about things like popcorn & food.

Maybe this is all me Shocked

Hey,make up you mind  Smiley

I forgot to mention when I first posted here, I didn't know the difference between lumens and lemonade, but thanks to folks like sparge who is always willing to solve a problem or guide the novice I've really learned alot here. The creativity blew me away in my early days with great ideas, screens, settings, events etc. Many of the old guard have dropped off as happens on sites.

I don't think I'll ever leave here, but just not visit as often perhaps.

For me,the payoff when having a night is the sheer enjoyment everyone is having.
11  Backyard Theater discussions / General discussion / Re: Is BYT slowing down, speeding up or is it stuck in neutral? on: September 18, 2014, 05:19:27 pm
I know I'm slowing down. I'll echo Sparge's comment regarding too much work. I'm going smaller and just using computer speakers and a smaller 'screen' I can just throw over fence. Just a few folks who want to see a movie, I don't care who shows up. a few nights its been just myself and a neighbor who really enjoys it. my wife could care less.

Monday night is a Bear game with about 60-70 expected at a friends place, I'll post a few pics, so a few big events on occasion and sporting events are the best

Getting back to topic, it's definitely slowed down, That said, when everything is right, it's still magic.

I don't see an audio out on the 705...what are you doing for sound...is there a receiver upstream?

3.5 to RCA to 1/4 to 7/8 (with help from Sparge) on mixer

All good!  It helps to read your full posts!

Sparge, you're the best, thanks!

Did you get the subwoofer working?  How did it sound?

-Sparge-

Sounds great! Much better than I expected, plus using correct jacks (7/8) as you pointed out for music in enables control on all speakers

I've probably used the eons once or twice over the last five years so thanks for steering me straight on the whole hookup.

I'll report back how tomorrow night goes.

14  Backyard Theater discussions / Projector specific / youtube straight to projector on: August 08, 2014, 03:31:37 pm
Setting up for a big party of friends and will be doing concert dvds etc and want to run music off of youtube.

I tried it a few years ago and can't recall results. Believe quality was pretty weak.

So straight from iphone to epson 705HD, Any comments or tricks?

15  Backyard Theater discussions / Speaker specific / Re: powered sub to mixer connection on: August 08, 2014, 02:42:42 pm
Yeah, some of the connections are still out of place on the mixer.

Looking at the pic of the mixer that you just posted... I'll assume those two black cables plugged into the MAIN MIX OUT go to the EONs.  If so, that's good.  I'll also assume the red/white cables plugged into the 2-TRACK IN are from your laptop/player.  If so, that's wrong.  You do not want to use the 2-TRACK IN on the mixer.  Your laptop/player should plug into the LINE IN 7/8 connections.  You will need two of those RCA-to-1/4" adapters like shown in that second pic with the crossover.

Here's where the above was previously described...

By the way, on the mixer you should use the MAIN MIX OUT connectors for the EONs (not the 2-TRACK OUT as shown in your photo).  The AUX B SEND will be used to connect your subwoofer as described above.  You can bring your stereo source (laptop, DVD player, etc.) in via the LINE IN 7/8 as shown in your photo.  You'll be able to control the level of the subwoofer from the mixer using the AUX B knob on the channel strip.

Don't forget to initially set and then adjust the level controls on all the devices as described.  I can see in the pic of the mixer that the Line 7/8 knobs are not centered as prescribed.

Let me know how it goes!

-Sparge-
