For being an outsider from the normal circle of projector brand the Dell product line is very good. I like it a lot. It is light, very bright, has 4000 light hours, great color and image quality. The downside is the noise and heat if you stand 3 feet from it but it is well ventilated. It has a steep projection angle which is really not that bad. For the price, the 1609WX it is a real bargain for a sub 1K HD projector pushing a native 1280x800 resolution at a native 16:10 aspect ratio. The replacement bulb are in the sub $300 range. If I have to choose between the Dell and Optoma, putting the lumen differences aside, I'd go with the Dell 1609WX based on the feature/price. BTW they also include a great looking and functional carrying case. Much better padding and design than my Optoma.
Currently you can get the 1609WX for $680 on Dell's Small Business section plus Free Shipping. You have to use this code: CZ2706QBZTPRLD during checkout.

Talking of comparisons, I've been wondering about the difference between the following, every thing else being equal, eg 16x9 CB screen Lighting DVD player, normal DVD not blue ray, etc etc.
A Sanyo plc-xu105 xga 1024x768 4:3 and 4500l compared to a
Sanyo PLC - WXU 300 wxga 1280x800 16:9 native and 2500lumens.
In your, or any bodies opinion which one would look the best on that screen

The PLC-WXU300 will upscale a 480p DVD image to 720p, while the XU105 will only upscale it to 576p, so you'll notice an improvement right off the bat. The xga however will allow you to start a viewing litlle earlier, perhaps 20 min.

I take it that's because of the extra lumens in the XGA Victor?

I am using a ViewSonic PJD6211. I am not used to it yet and have to experiment more. The native resolution is 4:3 and when I run it in 16:9 I STILL get the black bars across the top and bottom of my widescreen (grrr!) It also supposedly has 3-D capabilities, but there are no instructions on how that works, if it's just for games, or if I need certain hardware on my computer. It'd be really neat if I could project 3-D movies.
