We had our opening night last night and it was a huge success!!!
We had 73 people show up - 38 of which were kids!  It was a crazy madhouse of fun. Seating was at a premium - maybe I should start charging for prime seating! ha ha  Everyone BBQ'd and we had a fantastic potluck!
What a great way to start the summer!

Glad you had a good crowd. Last nite was our season opening with some last min. BAD weather. About 15 min. before showtime the winds came in, lighting and dark-dark clouds. This delayed the start, so we just showed "Because I Said So". Lets hope for better weather for our next show.    rg   See You At The Movies

Congratulations! I was amazed the first time I had 19 people over - I can't even imagine where we'd put 73!
I guess everyone wanted to be around the TV star. Wink

Wow, cafemom, sounds like you're in for a great summer!

Our opening night is tonight, we will be showing "cars", but so far it's pretty windy.  If it keeps this up, we might have to take it inside and just watch it on a tripod screen inside.  In contrast to your turnout of 72, we are planning to have a total of 10-12 people here tonight.  Still lots of fun, no matter how many people show up.

But the community atmosphere is fantastic.  It's all about bringing people together.  And you're doing a great job of it!

PS-  What did you show?

We were shocked by the total number too! I did a count, once the movie started (Night at the Museum) and had to count twice!!  It was pretty funny how everyone came right at 5pm and they all instantly placed their blankets and chairs in a prime spot. I had to "boot" someone over so my parents could get a place!  Grin
Patrick, I did give out autographs, being the star I am, but then they all appreared in the trash at the end of the night.... hmmmmm! ha ha ha  Grin
We have friends in Hawaii that are planning their vacation around one of our movie nights -so we must be doing something right!!!
If your ever in So Cal., let me know and stop by for a Backyard Movie night!

That is just awesome! Way to go! When I saw the thumbnail pic, I thought "She must have miscounted - there aren't 73 people in that." Then I looked at it full size - wow, just the kids!

You're a BYT hero, for sure!

Nice job CafeMom!  I love it!

I am travelling for work right now, and I am SOOO anxious to get back to have our next showing.  My wife is getting into it also big time now, so, we are hoping for 40 people.  I don't know if 70+ could fit in my yard and have everyone see the screen, so that truly is a VERY impressive number to turn out for the show.

Sounds like you all had a great time!

Cafemom -

EXCELLENT! You must be a great hostess! I think that probably has a much to do with it as anything. I remember growing up there was always one kid's house you wanted to go to. I'll bet your house is it now!

Great job!

thanks mucho everyone!
Growing up, my house was the "koolaid" house as we called it. always something to drink and cookies at the ready.
That was my goal for our home now. I hope it continues as the kids get older...and I think it just might if we keep doing movies!!!  Cheesy
Cafemom
p.s. one shot I didn't take that night was about 6 people up on the slope behind our house, watching the movie - CLASSIC!  Have to scope them out for next time!  ha ha ha

Cafemom,

You definately have the house everyone has fun at.  Awesome!  I am sure some of the autographs made it out.  LOL!
